We found their website to be easy to navigate. Simply visit Dinewise.com, and use the top navigation to enter their weight loss section.

You will find plenty of ways to sort their menu based on criteria you are most interested in. For example, you sort by cuisine, meal type (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) main ingredient, meal selections. They also offer preset meal plans if you don't want to pick your own food.

  • Tip: In our experience, we found DineWise can send some amazing special offers through email if you subscribe to their mailings.

Unlike more diet meal plan services, DineWise shows you pictures of every meal they sell. If you click on their product page, you can thumb through nutritional information, reheating instructions, ingredients, allergen information, and they even convert their meals to Weight Watchers points.

The checkout process is painless, and they allow you to checkout as a guest, meaning you don't have to give them any email information. They accept all major credit cards, but do not accept PayPal.

DineWise Diet - Day One

  • Breakfast: Oatmeal with Cinnamon Apples and Toasted Almonds To be honest, it's hard for us to get excited about oatmeal for breakfast, but we found this one to be very tasty, maybe even the best oatmeal we've ever had. The cinnamon apples were also sweet, without being too sweet, and still had a slight crunch without being mushy.

  • Lunch: Chicken Parmesan with Penne Pasta and String Beans We found this meal could be much better if they added more sauce in the tray for the pasta. The chicken parmesan was good, but didn't taste homemade. The string beans were standard fare.

  • Dinner: Almond Crusted Flounder with Vegetable Rice and Broccoli We thought this was an above average meal that doesn't appear on too many meal delivery menus. The flounder came out pretty good for a microwaved meal. The vegetable rice was also very good, but we wished there was more broccoli.

Anytime you buy frozen meals that are shipped on dry-ice, it's possible one of the plastic trays can crack, or the seal can break. This usually occurs if the package settles during shipping. We have always found DineWise customer service to be above average. They are only too happy to replace or refund a meal that gets damaged during shipping. In the unlikely event this happens with your order, please call them.


It may sound silly, but more often than not, prepared meal delivery services do not spend a great amount of effort making sure their meals reheat evenly in a microwave. Long-standing companies do make efforts to improve their reheating process, and DineWise is one of those companies.

  • Tip: If you are reheating a vendor's product for the first time, always use a little less time and add more if needed. It is better to undercook a prepared meal and add more time than it is to overcook a meal.

In our experience, we found the DineWise Diet meals to reheat evenly, and consistently. We found it better to allow meals to defrost in the refrigerator and reheat from thawed, instead of frozen.

DineWise Diet - Day Two

  • Breakfast: Seven Grain Waffle and Yogurt with Blueberry Compote Among the diet delivery services that make waffles, we thought this one was one of the best; however, you may need to supplement some fruit for mid-morning snack.

  • Lunch: Grilled Chicken with Bean and Cheese Burrito This is another item you won't find on many other menus, and it was quite good! Even though you get half a burrito, it is quite overstuffed with just enough sides to get you through the afternoon without feeling hungry.

  • Dinner: Stuffed Pepper with Rice Pilaf and Green Beans Almondine This is one of the best prepared we've ever had. We order it every time we order from DineWise. The stuffed pepper is huge, and there is plenty of rice and green beans to leave you feeling satisfied until breakfast.

DineWise Diet - Day Three

  • Breakfast: Spinach and Mushroom Omelet with Cheese Many diet companies will try to skimp with small breakfasts; this one is hearty enough to get you through the morning. We found the sauce to be on the sweeter side, but overall a good meal.

  • Lunch: Potato Crusted Pollock with Stewed Tomatoes and Mac and Cheese This would be a perfect meal if there were two pieces of fish. The crust is amazing and reheated without being soggy in the microwave. The stewed tomatoes were good, but there could be more. It's hard to have mac and cheese on diet, so we understood the small portion size. You may need a side salad to get through the afternoon.

  • Dinner: Chicken Marsala with White and Wild Rice and Broccoli with Red Peppers It's impossible to find anything sub=par about this meal. The chicken portion was above average, the sauce really tasted like Marsala, and the White and Wild Rice had a perfect texture. There is enough broccoli, but we would have loved more sauce for the rice.

DineWise Diet - Day Four

  • Breakfast: Omelet with Sausage and Apple Blueberry Compote The real star of this breakfast was the potatoes and the chicken sausage, which really surprised us on how good they were. The compote was on the sweet side, but we enjoyed this breakfast

  • Lunch: Shrimp Stir-Fry with Peas This is one of those meals you have to be careful about overheating. If you do, you'll get plenty of water in the tray and rubbery shrimp. The peas were pretty standard, but the shrimp was good. We would have preferred the chef took off the tails, which can be a little messy if this was on office lunch. The stir fry vegetables weren't as crisp as we would have liked, but they passed.

  • Dinner: Stuffed Pork Chop with Asparagus Corn Medley and Pureed Cauliflower This was another excellent prepared meal with a generous portion size for dinner. The pork chop is pounded out pretty thin, and stiffed. It looks bigger than it is, which we thought was clever preparation for a diet meal. The asparagus corn medley was outstanding, but had a hint of vinegar flavor to it. We liked the sauce, just passing it on to you. The pureed cauliflower was very good, and we can't imagine how they did it without using heavy cream. Outstanding meal.

DineWise Diet - Day Five

  • Breakfast: Tomato Basil Omelet with Sausage and Berries This breakfast didn't have the eye appeal like most of their other meals, but it tasted okay. We can't say we would run out to order it again though. The bacon seemed to be a bit on the petrified side, and the tomato basil sauce and the berries didn't seem to go with the meal.

  • Lunch: Lasagna with Sliced Carrots and Seasoned Kale A good, but small, lasagna. We can do a website on just prepared lasagnas and this scores above average. There was enough cheese, but we thought there could have been a little more sauce. We should have saved ours from breakfast. The sliced carrots are plain as plain can be, but we appreciated the seasoned kale, and would have liked to have more of it.

  • Dinner: Chicken Pistachio with Mashed Cauliflower and Green Beans Everything about this dinner was good; we just didn't care for the pistachio-avocodo sauce. Not that's it bad; it just didn't meet our taste expectations. The mashed cauliflower was different than the pureed cauliflower we had earlier, and okay, but not as good. They do give you a lot of strings beans, which were wonderful.

The Cost

The posted price for these five days of diet meals was $174 at the time of this writing. We purchased the diet meal plan on sale for $159 and received free shipping with our order. Free shipping saved us another $35, so we saved $50 in total. This brought our final cost to $10.60 per meal.


Overall we thought the food was good, and a pretty good value at $10.60 per meal. In our opinion, most of the dinners were worth much more than that, but this meal plan did balance itself out with some under-portioned lunches. Here are some highlights of what we liked and didn't like:

  • Over the years, it seems the size of the menu is getting smaller.
